History of Minnesota New Country School - Elementary:

Located in Henderson, MN, MNCS-Elementary opened its doors to students for the first time on August 26, 2013. The Elementary has 85 students enrolled in Kindergarten through sixth grade, from 13 surrounding communities within a 45-mile radius.

As a tuition-free public charter school, MNCS receives state funding and provides bus transportation to the communities it serves.

MNCS Elementary follows a project-based curriculum where students each receive an individualized learning plan. While there is still a focus on basic skills such as math, reading and writing, MNCS teachers also focus heavily on 1) environmental experiential learning; 2) project-based learning; 3) responsive classroom; 4) character education; and 5) technology.
