Experiences/ Field Trips

Experience Week: Monday, November 25th - Wednesday, November 27th (All K-6)

We are so excited for a wonderful week of experiences ahead!

Monday, November 25th:

Frogs, Critters, & Swans: Treemendous Park in St. Peter in the morning & then a SUPER Genius Hour in the afternoon (students will be able to choose from one of 5 activities happening around the school all afternoon)

Tigers & Anacondas: Mankato Wow! Zone (departure at 9:30am)

Tuesday, November 26th:

Frogs, Critters, Swans, Tigers, & Anacondas (all K-6): Minnesota Zoo (departure at 8:30am)

Wednesday, November 27th (Early Release Day at 1pm):

Frogs, Critters, & Swans: Thanksgiving Meal at the Henderson Community Center (around 11:30am-lunchtime)

Tigers & Anacondas: Turkey Bingo! (on-site at MNCS)

COST: The total cost for the entire week of activities is $10 for students in the Frogs, Critters, and Swans class. The total cost for students in the Tigers and Anacondas class is $30. Online payment is available HERE. You can also pay via cash or check. Please put in an envelope and write your child's name on the front and return to the child's Advisor or Brianne Fuhrmann, MNCS Elementary Administrative Assistant.

LUNCH: Students will need to bring a bagged lunch on Monday (11/25) and Tuesday (11/26) or request to have a school lunch. The older students attending the Wow! Zone field trip on 11/26 will have the option to buy lunch from the site or pizza.

Due to travel with transporting lunches, a peanut butter or peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fruit cup, and healthy bagged snack will be offered if your student is participating in the MNCS school lunch program. All students will need to bring a water bottle.

CHAPERONES: We are only in need of chaperones on Tuesday, 11/26 for the MN Zoo field trip.

**Due to limited space on the buses, we ask Chaperones please transport themselves to the MN Zoo- you can choose to just meet us there or come to the school and follow the bus there. Your student can ride with you and leave with you- please just make sure the Advisor is made aware of this.

 If you already have a MN Zoo membership you can use, otherwise there is no entrance fee for chaperones and we just appreciate your help with this event! Thank you to all those who have already signed up and informed us that you are interested in helping chaperone. If you have not yet and are interested, please let the Advisor know or the Elementary Administrative Assistant.

Educational outings help to enrich our student's learning and reinforce lessons taught in the classroom through real world applications. We want to thank you for your willingness to participate and contribute your time and talent! To ensure the safety of our students, we require criminal background checks on the following per our policy:

1. Any volunteer who accompanies students off campus (i.e., chaperones for field trips).

2. Any volunteer who is responsible for working with students on campus (including virtual experiences), but not under the supervision of a licensed teacher.

In these regards, you need to complete this form: Background Check Form. A paper form can be made available to you at the MNCS Elementary reception desk. Thank you again for your cooperation and interest in volunteering at our school!

Friday, December 6th: Genius Hour (All K-6)

All MNCS Elementary students will be having Genius Hour on Friday, December 6th. Advisors at MNCS Elementary will be offering a skill and students can sign up to choose where they want to go and do that activity! It will be from 1:00pm - 2:45pm. It is sure to be another fun Experience Friday-Genius Hour for our students!

Friday, December 13th (Off-Site Experiences):

Children's Museum (Frogs, Critters, & Swans)

We will be departing MNCS at 9am and arriving to the Museum around 9:45am and then leaving around 1:30pm to make it back in time for normal after school bussing.

LUNCH: Lunch will be on-site at the Museum in a reserved room from 11am-11:30am. Students will need to bring a bagged lunch or request to have a school lunch. Due to travel and transporting lunches, a peanut butter or peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a healthy snack option will be offered if your student is participating in the MNCS school lunch program. All students will need to bring a water bottle.
