This Halloween at MNCS Elementary, we were first tricked- then treated! :) The weather made us think winter had arrived! Our annual Trick-Or-Treat down Main Street took a different route this year due to the surprise wintry mix. Instead of walking down Main Street to Trick-Or-Treat, we transported via bus. Our Henderson area local businesses were so gracious to meet us and hand out candy on the bus! We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the local businesses who braved the weather and handed out candy to our students- you brought smiles to our students faces, a bag full of treats, and helped make the day so special! We appreciate you all! In the afternoon we also had a Halloween Costume contest. The categories were best costume, most creative, and best performance. With so many participants in their festive gear and some wonderful performances, it was hard to pick the winners! It was such a fun day with students showing their Halloween spirit!

Yesterday was a great day at the play! MNCS Elementary students K-6 went to the "Senorita Mariposa" play at Stages Theater. Students enjoyed the wonderful songs and inspiring story about a monarch butterfly's extraordinary voyage spanning many miles- from country to country for the annual migration journey, facing struggles and triumphs, and a strong message about the importance of caring for our planet! Students enjoyed this engaging bilingual adventure with it's educational value and spirited performance! We look forward to attending more plays and musicals this year- what a great start!

Meet our new class pet! Students in the Frog classroom were able to meet the newest addition to their classroom this past Monday. It is a Pacman Frog! Students participated in an engaging lesson by our School Counselor, Lauren Chapman and learned all about Pacman Frogs from what they eat, to helping build a cozy home environment for their new little friend! The next order of business was to vote on a name...we are proud to introduce you to "Gerald Pumpkin" our new member of the MNCS family! We embrace the wonderful learning opportunities that classroom pets can have from helping children learn about life and how living things grow and change. Observing and caring for an animal can also instill a sense of responsibility- bringing increased empathy and awareness of the feelings and needs of others- including both animals and humans! Life skills that are important! We are looking forward to what learning opportunities and adventures Gerald Pumpkin will bring to the Frog classroom this year!!!

Encouraging one another with chalk! One of our students has taken on a mission to write a positive message everyday with chalk on the sidewalk near the school's playground. The goal is to spread encouragement and uplift the other students and our community! What a shining example and inspiring young student! May we never forget the impact we can have on others and treat every interaction as an opportunity to spread kindness!
